CCSNYS Staff Present on Museum Governance Model at American Association of Museums
4/25/2008
CCSNYS CEO, Doug Sauer, and Central NY Regional Manager, Andrew Marietta will be presenting at the American Association of Museums Annual Conference in Denver on Sunday, April 27th. Their panel discussion, called “Museum Board Empowerment Program: A Model for Board Governance,” focuses on the museum board training program CCSNYS created and implemented with the support of the New York State Council on the Arts. The panel also includes Donna Anderson, Executive Director of The Exhibition Alliance and Robert Cassetti, Board Member of The Arnot Museum.
The Museum Board Empowerment Program (MBEP), operating since 2006, is intended to empower museum and historical society board members throughout the state with the information and tools necessary to carry out their very important responsibilities and obligations. This panel discussion will explore the unique partnership that was formed between a state funder, museum service organizations, and a statewide nonprofit service provider. The program session will explore the development and implementation of the MBEP, its impact firsthand, and how it provides open, accessible and affordable training for any museum looking for board governance assistance.
