Since 2008, the New York Council of Nonprofits (NYCON) has been holding a series of workshops in Broome County to help local nonprofit organizations improve their business operations. Such improvements allow nonprofits to provide more and better services with limited resources. Organizations that participate in the workshops also may apply for mini-grants to fund capacity building projects. A $9,000 special project grant from the Hoyt Foundation will allow NYCON to continue this program in 2010 with a capacity building workshop on nonprofit sustainability and viability. The money also will help to fund mini-grants and allow NYCON to provide an assessment to a local nonprofit organization. |
