NYCON Receives $20,000 from NY Community Trust to Build Fundraising Capacity of Grassroots Nonprofits in NYC

The NY Community Trust has recently awarded a second $10,000 grant to NYCON in support of the Strengthening Communities Fund Program.

The Strengthening Communities Fund (SCF), created by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, was designed to build the capacity of small community and faith-based nonprofits in Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx who are providing services that are vital to economic recovery efforts.

NYCON is re-granting 600,000 to 31 Project Partner nonprofit organizations. A total of 74 organizations were granted access to comprehensive capacity building training and education, an online learning community, peer support and consulting.

“We truly appreciate that the NY Community Trust supported NYCON and this program," notes Susan Weinrich, NYCON's VP of Organizational & Community Development. "They recognize the importance of investing in small nonprofits in order to help them increase their capacity to effectively fundraise and build sustainable fund development plans for the future – especially in the economy in which they are working today.”
